TMF Leadership Inspects Ventures at ARDAP

The Marachi Foundation (TMF) is a community-centered development organization committed to transforming livelihoods through cooperative development, agribusiness value-chain enhancement, youth empowerment, and sustainable rural enterprise growth. TMF works to promote economic resilience among smallholder farmers, microtraders, youth, and women groups across Busia County and beyond.
Through its flagship programs; TMF SACCO and TMF Investment Cooperative Society (TMF ICS), the Foundation provides platforms for savings and credit access, value chain participation, raw material aggregation, agro-processing, and market linkages aimed at improving household incomes and strengthening local economies.
TMF ICS has entered into a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Appropriate Rural Development Agriculture Program (ARDAP) to jointly operationalize and expand agro-processing, technical training, cooperative strengthening, and youth/women empowerment activities at the ARDAP Centre in Butula Sub-County.
Under this collaboration, TMF and ARDAP are driving coordinated programs in:
- Value-chain aggregation and processing
- Farmer and youth training
- Community outreach
- Cooperative strengthening
- Technical, industrial, and agribusiness skills development
The Marachi Foundation (TMF) ICS Ltd, is therefore seeking competent, motivated, and ethical intern staff to support ongoing and upcoming programs in the following positions:
1.AGRO-PROCESSING TECHNICIANS (4 Positions)
Each position corresponds to one or more ventures within the processing hub.
Roles & Responsibilities
The technicians will be assigned across specific TMF ICS value chains as follows:
A. Edible Oil Processing Technician
- Operate oil expellers, filters, and packaging machinery
- Ensure quality control of oilseeds and finished edible oil
- Maintain hygiene and safety in the oil processing section
- Oversee filtration, settling, packaging, and labeling
B. Water Bottling Technician
- Operate the water purification, treatment, and bottling line
- Inspect bottles, caps, and seals for quality
- Ensure compliance with public health and KEBS water standards
- Conduct routine maintenance of water treatment equipment
C. Rice Milling Technician
- Operate milling, polishing, grading, and packaging equipment
- Maintain machinery, calibrations, and grain handling processes
- Perform quality checks for paddy, hulled rice, and final outputs
- Record daily production logs and machine performance reports
D. Flour Milling Technician (Cassava, Maize, Sorghum & Composite Flours)
- Operate flour milling equipment for each product line
- Monitor drying, grinding, sieving, and packaging processes
- Perform quality and moisture tests on raw and finished flour
- Ensure hygiene and safety procedures in the flour processing zones
Academic Qualifications
· Diploma/Certificate in Agriculture, Food Science, Agro-processing, Plant operation, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
Skills Required
· Hands-on equipment handling skills.
· Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and quality management.
· Basic machine troubleshooting ability.
· Attention to detail and reliability.
Experience Required
· Prior exposure to agro-processing plants or cottage-level food production (added advantage).
· Experience with cooperative/agro-industrial systems preferred.
2. ACCOUNTANT (1 Position)
Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage financial records, budgets, requisitions and expenditures.
- Prepare financial reports for TMF–ARDAP programs.
- Support procurement processes, asset registers, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure proper filing of receipts, vouchers, and financial documents.
- Assist in audits and donor financial reporting requirements.
Academic Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields.
- CPA II or equivalent certification is an added advantage.
Skills Required
- Strong financial record-keeping and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks or similar).
- High integrity and attention to detail.
Experience Required
- Minimum 1 year experience in accounting, finance, or administrative roles (preferred).
- Experience in cooperative or NGO financial systems is an added advantage.
C. ICT & DATA SUPPORT ASSISTANT (1 Position)
Roles & Responsibilities
- Support digital data collection, entry, analysis and reporting.
- Assist in maintaining ARDAP–TMF digital systems, dashboards, and records.
- Provide first-level troubleshooting for ICT devices (computers, tablets, printers).
- Assist in documentation, filing, and digital backup of project data.
Academic Qualifications
- Diploma/Certificate in ICT, Computer Science, Information Sciences, or related fields.
Skills Required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data entry tools and basic analytics.
- Good communication and documentation abilities.
- Ability to manage digital files and reporting systems.
Experience Required
- Experience in field-based data collection or M&E systems is an added advantage.
4. FIELD EXTENSION & COMMUNITY LIAISON ASSISTANTS (2 Positions)
Roles & Responsibilities
- Mobilize youth, women groups, farmer clusters and community associations.
- Support training sessions, capacity building, and field demonstrations.
- Maintain community linkages with cooperatives, county offices and TMF value-chain partners.
- Assist in field data collection and reporting.
Academic Qualifications
- Diploma/Certificate in Agriculture, Community Development, Rural Development, Extension Services, or related fields.
Skills Required
- Strong interpersonal and mobilization skills.
- Ability to work in rural setups with diverse community groups.
- Good reporting, communication and teamwork abilities.
Experience Required
- Experience working with community groups (youth, women, farmers) is an added advantage.
- Prior involvement in cooperative or NGO programs preferred.
